Legoland/Carlsbad Vacay

I really love vacation.  Planning, anticipating, packing for it, and enjoying it are all things I enjoy!  This was our first vacation with just the five of us.  Kids are getting bigger and we don't need help to make our vacation enjoyable.  We don't even need a stroller.  Bittersweet!  We settled on a four day getaway to Legoland/Carlsbad.  It was a quick getaway but a trip packed full of fun and chocked full of forever memories.

We left early Thursday morning and headed south.  I had copied off lots of fun road trip activities for the kids to do and that truly helped pass the eight hour trip.  I have to admit the Ipad helped too.

We arrived at our resort and loved how we had a glimpse of the Pacific along with how close we were to Legoland.

Toothless twins.

We dined at the Chart House in Cardiff and the kids enjoyed their first Shirley Temple.  The beach was right outside the restaurant and so we couldn't resist some toe dipping after dinner.

Happy 35th to me!

They giggled and squealed while the waves chased them.  This was their first experience at a Southern California beach.  They loved it.

(thankful to the runner on the beach who offered to take this pic of us)

After a restful night we set out for Legoland.  What a great time we had.  I heard some negative things about Legoland which I felt weren't true during our trip. The park was clean, the kids weren't bored, and we could have done two days there.  So much to see and too little time.

Day three we spent at an awesome beach in Encinitas at Moonlight Beach. Incredible.   We had the exact beach experience I was hoping for.  Southern California beaches are so awesome. Warm and gorgeous.

So much fun flying a kite.

Kids loved building sandcastles and catching crabs!

Mesmerized by the bubble lady.

Heading home

I am so glad we were able to get away and go to a place we had never been. I am sad the kids aren't babies anymore but feeling excited about the doors that are opening to allow us to do more things together as a family.  Look out world here we come!

I highly recommend Legoland to anyone who has small children. You won't be disappointed.

Harper and Olivia

I met Amanda for the first time in person a couple months back at Starbucks for a coffee date.  She was pregnant with her gorgeous twins and we chatted the whole time about life with twins.  I love meeting others who have twins or are about to become a parent to twins. It is fun to reflect on those early days with Landon and Makenna and share some golden nuggets with moms-to-be.

I was excited when Greg and Amanda asked me to photograph their newborn twin girls.  I have photographed quadruplets before but never twins.  I loved every moment.

Harper and Olivia.  Love their names.  They were a dream to photograph.  10 days new and full of sweetness.

Olivia and Harper.

Amanda and Greg, your girls are just amazing.  Blessings to your family of four.
