New Traditions

Today was a Thanksgiving with new traditions.  We usually travel somewhere for Thanksgiving and battle traffic on some major freeway.  Not this year.  We stayed home and hosted my in laws which was such a nice change.

Our day started out with joining others at the 3rd annual 5K/10K Turkey Trot in Elk Grove.

Our sweet Weston stayed home due to a fever, coughing, and a drippy runny nose.

In the drizzling rain, the twins ran out a 1/4 mile and proudly wore their beloved medals for the rest of the day. They joined us for the 5K trot and completely impressed us. Makenna ran out a mile and a half without stopping.  We were thankful though, we brought the stroller so that they could rest when they wanted.  They both ran across the finish line at the end. I think we may have some runners on our hands.

The day was cozy and consisted of being together.

Every holiday after the festivities, I scan through the pictures upset I didn't get a picture of our family of five. This year I was determined to change this.  This is the best we could do. Blurry, Landon picking his nose, Weston sick and wanting to go to bed, and Makenna whining because she was tired from all of her running. Classic. I am happy though that I captured a pic of the five of us. Mission accomplished.

Our table was only set for seven (although Weston missed Thanksgiving dinner) which made for an intimate evening.

We said what we were grateful for and clinked glasses full of wine and sparkling cider.  The twins were excited to drink from breakable goblets just like ours.

Our meal was delicious thanks to the help of my in laws who really know how to cook, and are the ones who taught my husband everything he knows about cooking.

I am thankful for this day.  I loved everything about it.  The exercise, rain, company, laughs, food, and sweet deals from online black Friday shopping.  Ha!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I hope you felt blessed today and enjoyed it with people you love.

xoxo
