Mother's Day

There was a time I thought I would never be a mother.  I struggled through infertility for a couple years before getting pregnant with the twins through IVF back in 2006.  Sweet Weston we were surprised with in March of 2008.  I am blessed.  Our house is loud and sometimes I want to pull my hair out but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Today was my kind of Mother's Day. We were lazy and slept in.  Todd made blueberry pancakes and hung up my 14 standouts (more on that below).  Love them by the way.  We ate lunch and enjoyed a walk to Starbucks.

Only picture of Landon smiling before he took a turn for the worse upon arriving at Starbucks where he said his head hurt.

We flew a lady bug kite since it was super windy.  After returning home I left Weston and a sick Landon at home with Daddy and Makenna and I went and enjoyed a pedi.  She got lucky and got a mani too.

I felt a little adventurous and did a hot pink french pedi.  Love it. Fun to switch it up every once in a while.

So let's talk about my Mother's Day gift which was 14 pictures turned into standouts and hung up in our family room.  BEST present ever.  I have been dreaming about this wall and it has finally come true.  Remember our photoshoot? I had this wall in mind when we did our photoshoot. I planned our outfits to go with the colors of our family room.  I decided on this collage after finding an inspiration picture from pinterest.  We made 14 standouts and they turned out awesome. Six of them are 16 by 24 inches and eight of them are 11 by 14. Two little nails hold up each picture which are super light weight. I love that I can see the whole collage while standing at our island in the kitchen.  The pictures have a metallic finish on them which gives it a real wow factor.

Tips when making standouts:
-Make sure your prints are printed from a great lab.  Bay Photo lab and Mpix are great labs.
-Use a sharp exacto knife when cutting the foam board
- For this size collage you need three 30 by 40 inch black foam boards.

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day.  I have one sick kid with the flu but that's what being a mom is all about.  Right?!
