Make Your Own Standouts

When we use to have family pictures taken I was terrible about getting them printed.  Ok, maybe a few would be printed for frames on a shelf, but I was overwhelmed thinking about putting them up on the wall. Frames, Standouts, and Canvases can get pricey.
I came across a blog a while back talking about making your own standouts.  I am now officially obsessed with them.  They are simple and easy and save you a ton of $$.
So here is a little tutorial of a standout we made today.
Materials Needed:
Black Foam Board from Staples: $6
3M contact cement or Scotch 77: $15 from Staples
Dry Cloth
Flat Surface
Sharp Razor Knife
Your picture

Outline your picture on the foam board with a pencil.

With an sharp razor knife cut out foam board along pencil markings.

I have used 3M cement before and it works just as well.

Spray back of picture.

Spray foam board.

Lay picture down carefully on to foam board.

Wipe picture with a dry cloth

Trim off any pieces of foam make smooth.

Done!  So simple and easy!!
(This is an 8 by 10 pic)

All you need are two tiny nails to hang this standout up with. Easy peasy.
I had a girlfriend make her own standouts and she used wood instead of foam board.  Requires a table saw but they look awesome too!
